About the Founder
Deshawna Dookie is a mental health advocate currently based in Toronto, Canada. She has an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and a Social Service Worker Diploma. Having found a huge disproportion amongst black people, mental health awareness and the use of mental health services, she became devoted to advocating for this need. She does this through writing, and community outreach. She has been a Reporter-Editor for the Dialog newspaper at George Brown College as well as a Freelance writer for Healthy Minds Canada. You can check out some of her pieces on the Blog portion on this site! Also be sure to look at the upcoming Black Lotus yoga events in the Calendar. Deshawna is a creative at heart, a practicing yoga instructor, and a firm believer in holistic mental health practices, which you'll see a lot of here at blacklotusto.com!
